Brewing Up The Drunkards
Saturday, June 23, 2007
The bitter aftertaste... The first time I had tried beer, it was Heineken. I didn't like it at all. Yuck.
That was 3 years ago.
No, I'm not going to say that I love drinking beer now and overnight, I have turned into an alcoholic, despite my "dark side" being exposed, during our Chemistry trip to the
Fuller's Brewery and
Vinopolis last Friday.
The day started with a talk about the Art of Brewing and the chemistry behind it, given by the one and only Mr. Latif, our Head of Chemistry, my Chem teacher. Beer is mostly consist only of water, yeast, malt and sugar.

We then had a beer tasting session, where Mr. L did the honour by giving us each a shot of the different kinds of beer he had on display. I even wrote down some that I quite like. Newcastle Brown, Cobra, Young's London Ale, Baumlers Apple Cider...

I forgot which one this was...

Katie, me, Kat

Kat (our head girl)

Ammar with his beloved Kronenberg beer (we each had one, but I gave mine to Ben)

Ibrahim and Tom

Gordon and Ben

Mr. Latif and me (notice 3 empty Kronenberg bottles in front of me? Yea.. I finished it all.... HAHA, we put it there on purpose to pretend that I did)

After the talk, we set off to Ealing Broadway station at about 10am, took the train to Chiswick Park, where we walked to the Fuller's Brewery.(bottom)

Inside the brewery and how the beer is made...

Then comes the beer tasting session again. My fav = Fuller's London Pride, Fuller's Discovery

We were split into 2 groups for the tour around the brewery, and this is my group

Antony, David, me and Ben

Kat and Katie

Ben drinking my postcard...

Me and my dessert... YUM!! I have declared that I love meringue! It tasted so nice!
After Lunch, we're off to Vinopolis. We took the train to London Bridge and anticipated a great afternoon with a wide selection of wines.

Okay, this random photo. I have to point out! Ammar: Hey look, the green sign says 'No Dumping by order'. You can't break up there!"
....... (hahahaha, I couldn't stop laughing)

Wine tasting tables - where we can trade in 1 of our 5 tickets to try 1/6 of a glass of wine

I chose Rose Sapphire. It was realllllyy nice! Bitter grapefruit taste, which I found really smooth and delicious.

New Zealand wine = I tried Malborough Pinot Noir, it was really nice too!

On the way back to the train station. Just thought the background was quite cool.

Overall it was a really fun day. People kept teasing me for being "drunk" because my face went really red even though I didn't drink as much as them. I was surprised that I wasn't itchy (refer to
Winery Effects) When I got home, Liv came over for a visit and it was really fun :) then.... the itchiness started. Waaaa~!!!! T.T
