the most tiring week!
Saturday, March 17, 2007
The week flew by so fast, I felt that it had dragged all my energy away. I was really really tired by Friday.
The trip to Oxford was more fun that I had given it credit for. I was at first a bit reluctant to go because my classmate, Alex wanted to go so much and I had offered him my place - but then Mr. B said I'm going no matter what - haha... We took the train from Ealing Broadway around 8.30am and arrived in Oxford about 9.45am. We had a look around the town first before going to the Materials building.

In the train, from left: Ammar, Mr. B, Riccardo and Ruaridh

My Sudoku !! ^^ finished it in abt...... 10 min? Got headache after that

A short sight-seeing
When we arrived at Materials Oxford, we were divided into 2 groups, A and B - and then we had refreshments, before going to a lecture about aeroplanes and the fan underneath the wings.. what they are made of etc. it was really interesting!!Next we went in our groups for hands-on experiments.

Making a mixture of PVA glue and Borax Solution

I find Liquid Nitrogen really fascinating =D the guy made the battery float in the air!!

Lunch time (free lunch!)

Photo taken by Mr. B - were missing a few because they didn't want to take photos

Ice cream! (my flavour was Lovely Bubbly) It was so big! Mr. B even said that, "come friday, selene will still be eating her ice cream" HAHA

The programme files and freebies~ straws which I made into ...

... carbon-60 football
Then, on Thursday, Science Conference at High Street Kensington Town Hall - 15 of us went with Mrs. H. It was so so so much fun! I had an enjoyable time.

When we got there, refreshments were served. There were many other schools there too.

A talk given by one of the speakers

Going to the workshops

Listening to a lecture given by a sleep scientist. This was so interesting and I learnt a lot. I even interviewed her (because Tim and I were student reporters)

More talks - this entitled 'Meat and Two Veg' where their main theme was Healthy living. Very very good points were made about body images etc.

Soft toys monsters were given out for FREE!! but i din get one :( they had to guess how much "a certain amount" of fat weighed.

A few of the workshops.

Me trying to be the skeleton's head, but.. too short

trying out some of the activities

I love this one!!! it's fun to try out 'Operational Surgeon' But it was so hard because I couldn't use the needle holder very well.

Jamie beside me trying out as well.. We were being coached by the women.

Just to raise awareness.. this is how much sugar there are in the drinks

.. and how much fat there is in the corresponding food

Why do i have black lips? Coz I had the red-eye reduction on for the camera and it turned all red thingies to black . i look gothic enough???? hehe

Last 'Closing Up' gathering... where two lucky people won Olympus cameras from a lucky draw. Darn! I wanted to win ~ ~ ~
Then, the closest person to a celebrity I saw was Alison Mowbray - well, she is famous :), she was the silver medalist for women's rowing in Olympics at Athens. She is now a science teacher and she gave us an inspirational talk to end the day.
On Friday, I trudged around like I was half-asleep. I was so stressed out because I had to catch up with lots of work and I felt so drained and tired. My obituary was read out in RE ^^ I was the only one that had done my homework (yes, my homework was to write my own obituary) they were really touched with it (which is good ^^) and us girls got emotional and teary-eyed, as if I'd really died.. haha (choi choi choi)
Last night, I slept at 7.30pm and woke up at 8 today.
Yep, see how tired I was?
