First, of all... some random photos -

like a cyber cafe haha

a card i made

apparently, we look alike.. this is cho ji woo
On Tuesday, my friends and I went to "Mathematics in Action" - a Maths conference for all 6th formers studying maths. That morning, I woke up late at 8.40am and I was supposed to meet them at 9.15am. I met up with Isabella and Nicoletta at Ealing Broadway Station, as well as Andrea, Riccardo, Ranjan, Michael, David, Andrew, Mitesh, erm.... who else? Ruaridh, Atish, I think that's all...
At first, I was supposed to lead the Italians to where we were supposed to go, but we have our guides - I'm referring to the other guys we met up - so I just followed blindly :P We took the central line to somewhere.. I forgot.. and walked to University of London. Here are some photos

Not very clear but I secretly took a photo of the guys.. they were standing on the other side of the carriage. Darn the flash!

We arrived at University of London, and stood outside waiting for Mr Scicinski to arrive (maths teacher/my form teacher) the guy with a 'peace' sign is Andrea hehe,,, din know he posed

At the lecture room, this photo taken by Matt (nicknamed 'Rudeboy' don't ask me why) most of the students here are from our school, though some include strangers too

Photo taken by Ruaridh
that's Oli, Tom, Sam and Nicky next to him, in blue.. I'm behind Tom, Nicoletta behind Sam, Wilson behind Oli, Daniel behind Nicky

Nice pose, Chris~ :P The lecture room...
So anyway, we listened to 5 lectures - and I'll just briefly list them :
- Modelling the circle of life - Dr. Dorothy Buck, Imperial College : We heard about the interesting things to do with...... knots
- Mobiles, medicine and the beauty of Mathematics - Dr. Robert Hunt, Uni of Cambridge : talked about frequencies etc. to do with medicine and mobiles, as you can guess
- Boomerangs, bouncing balls and other spinning things - Dr. Hugh Hunt, Cambridge Uni : I think this lecture is one of the bests... It was very entertaining and so FUNNY!!! I wont mind hearing it again.. He threw boomerangs, and showed us the gyroscopic effects of spins...
- The music of the Primes - Marcus Du Sautoy, Uni of Oxford : Why did Beckham choose the number 23 shirt? there's $1 million for the person who can unravel the mystery of prime numbers... talked about Fibonacci numbers, golden ratio and also showed us a movie that revolves around prime numbers... erk.. one part is... "not for the squeamish" the guy got sliced to pieces... *shudders* haha!
- Magic and Mathematics: Puerile and Appalled - Ian B Dunne : this is equally good to Dr Hugh Hunt's... It's so funny... I cant stop laughing... He called for many volunteers as well... and did number tricks, card tricks.. brain teasers, and.... catapulting barbie doll.
It was so much fun!!!!
Hmm... have to go to lunch now and will be going shopping with Livia...
Damn... I was going to write a long post about something that's been bothering me.. But i guess I have to wait............................................................................................................
