I was going to start off this post with something eye-catching, like a video of how I set my hands alight~
But unfortunately, I haven't got the video yet. So, if you haven't heard about it from me, what happened was - St. benedict's Open Evening on Thursday. I was assigned to the Chemistry Department. My experiment was "Screaming Jelly Babies", in which I had to melt Potassium Chlorate (the oxygen source) in a boiling tube and drop the jelly babyin, which is the fuel for the exothermic reaction. And then, the jelly baby will "scream" because heat is given out. It was a disaster at first because I don't think the people were very impressed. A little boy even said, "So? It just burned..." I find that funny but very deflating, so I kept wishing time will fly fast so that my friend Katerina would come and help me. (she was supposed to work with me on the experiment but had to help out in Biology for an hour)
I took a 5-minutes break and went to the other Chem room - where all the excitement lies: more people prefer to go there than to our room - and went straight to Katie and Alex who were in charge of "Flame On". What we did was = I wet my hands and arms, took some "bubbles" and held it out. Katie light the ubbles and there we go. "My hands were on fire" for at least 2-3 secs. It was AWESOME. Alex took a video on his camera but hadn't sent it to me yet.. so... I can't post it up right now.
Okay, rewind until Tuesday - Mentoring!!! That was an awesome experience. I went to Lower Prep P (ages 7-8) and worked with the youngsters on their Reading skills. What I did was sit outside the classroom with a tiny chair and one by one they came out, sat down and started reading. I am SO impressed with their capabilities. *Psst: I can't even pronounce some words eg. Palaeontologist - or something like that* I look forward to this coming Tuesday!!!
Friday - we had Jeans for Genes Day and also Pink day - for fundraising for Genes Foundation and Breast Cancer Fundraising Society. It was a fun day as I didn't have any classes at all, except for General RE. In the morning, we had PSCHE and listened to a talk about Drugs. I am actually quite surprised at the number of people that've tried drugs. hmmm... after break, we were split into 2 groups- one to listen to our Careers Advisor's talk about UCAS -university and college application system- forms and such, the other to sit the ALIS (IQ) test. An hour later we swapped over.
I'm tired now. I'm disappointed that I don't have the video.... *wait...*
still haven't got it....
still...
Aih.. thinking about Jazzy coming in 4 weeks is VERY EXCITING! But why the "Aih" ? Because in that same week - EXAMS. I feel as if time is running out, I seriously need a good foundation of EVRYTHING I've learnt so far in my head. But they aren't. I'm still struggling.
Okay, I promised A. B. that I would study the best I can and stop complaining haha... Ain't working, sorry Amanda.. ~ :P
*fell asleep*
