Gold and Silver provide security, but good advice is better (SIRACH 40:25)
I started the week feeling saturated with heavy workload. Monday morning, as I trudged along the path to the bus stop, I was dreading another long week. However, I got through it, waking up today feeling refresehed, finally the time to online again!
As I'm in the Yearbook committee, I'm in charge of the "Fun Corner" and currently organising a survey to distribute to all year 12 and 13 students. It is a funny survey filled with questions that will bring out the creativity of the students. I haven't finished it though, as I have to consult with my teammates. We were also told that we are going to have the "Us" page - editors! yay us! We're even doing these without a teacher's help.
SVP -St. Vincent's de Paul Charity Society. There's soup kitchens in the weekends, raffle selling next week, and Maincamp on Thurdays, where we play with and talk to handicapped people. It should be fun, even though they said that it would be daunting at first. But after the experience I had with Lynthia's Leo Club in Jan 06, I think I know what to expect.
I've also joined Mentoring - Once a week, I would go and help out at the junior school. I'm helping out with Reading - even though when I applied, I stated that my areas of interest lie in Mathematics. I think it was because I added in "...and poetry..." I shouldn't have added that... I guess Reading isn't too bad, but the only concern I have is because sometimes I can't pronounced words properly. But I'm looking forward to have fun with the Lower Prep boys - they should be about 9-10 years old? I have no idea actually.
Besides these three... I haven't joined anything else. But I think these should be enough, I still have to cope with my subjects. Quick updates: Mathematics - I'm just so... annoyed at myself because I made some "careful" mistakes in my Algebra test - meaning, I was checking over my answers since I finished early, so for one of the questions, it asked for my answers to be in 3sf. I substituted my answer back into the equation to make sure I got the right answer and it was wrong. When I put it to 2sf tho, the answer is right. So of course I changed it to 2sf... and I got it wrong. -.- Physics - hmm... I think I'm starting to understand the graphs better now - these are basic stuff but still hard for me, so I'm afraid of what might be thrown my way soon. Electricity is no problem for me, even though the questions they ask confuse me sometimes. Calculations are easier to solve. Chemistry - we had a Redox Reaction summary test yesterday and I felt really upset because since we only had 30 mins to do the "simple" test, I couldn't finish the last question. It was balancing MnO4 with As2O3. I really really want to beat all the guys. I think being in that environment of being the only girl has made me really competitive. Besides that, we are studying Periodic Trends and Atomic Structure. Biology - Finished Module 3, which is Ecology... and started Molecules and Cells. So far we've learnt about glucose, polysaccharides, hexoses etc. All I have to do is MEMORISE~~~ On Wednesday, during the last half an hour of Games, us girls had been through tiring and endless circuit training plus an hour of netball game. We were then asked to do a rotation of sit-ups and boxing. We were split into 2 teams, one did a minute and a half of sit-ups and the other a minute and a half of boxing. Then we had 30 secs of rest before swapping. This went on for at least 15 mins.
Sit-ups: sounds easy right? But try it with your whole lower body OFF the ground.
Boxing: sounds fun right? It's just punching the thick mat (that gymnasts use) on the wall... But we were all complaining about our sore hands by the end of that. I couldn't even punch using my right hand during the third round. Most of us were in plasters the next day. Sounds exagerrated, doesn't it? Just some punching and we were all hurt, haha... I have 3 fingers and a knuckle skinned off because of that, and it is still sore now. Especially whenever I wash my hands or bend my fingers.
I have to attend our school's Open Evening next Thursday, looking after the Chemistry section (I was asked to do Chem, coz I was the only girl in the class and Mr. L was saying that he wanted people to see that girls do Chem. I find that comment funny....) I heard there will be fire-playing.. Interesting eh?
Livia's back!! She'd returned from Phillipines after 3 months of holiday and dropped by yesterday. I haven't talked so much since school started and I feel so happy. We had a great time, and she stayed for dinner too. She'd be going to Uni next week~~ Good Luck, Liv!
[I thought I didn't have anything to update this week but look above, wow.. written a lot too]
But it's so plain - so I'll add some pictures
Cheetah girls - watched Cheetah Girls 2 last night, made me really really want to dance hip-hop!
Waiseh.. hectic but definitely fulfilling. It's great that you're so actively involved in school and gerko. Reminds me of Lynthia who is so active in so many things too. Lol. Oh, I remember the MnO4 with As2O3 question in Chemistry. You'll learn that again in Redox Equilibria (where you have to memorise the equation). No worries, where the big picture comes in, these little things look easy. Don't be too stressed out over tests yeah. Be grateful when you encounter mistakes, because that's how it can really be enforced in your mind.
