Catching up

My few weeks in Oman has been a pleasurable time, with me spending most of my time watching TV. By the last week, we’d packed at least 80% of our belongings. Even on the 1st day of Chinese New Year, we had to spend the day packing.
Coming back to New Zealand, the journey was very tiring!! In Dubai, we walked around for 6 hours – shopped, ate… Our flight in Brunei was delayed 6 hours and created a fuss later on in Auckland airport. Furthermore, the aeroplane disappointed me as we didn’t have our own personal inflight entertainment.
FEB 8th
I’d been planning to go out with my friends to spend a last outing together before I move to London. Today we went to Laser Force in Wellington. It was raining cats and dogs!! We met up at 12 pm at Waterloo Station – 8 of us – Anita, Polina, Jasmine(my sis), Kathy, Amanda Sweeney, Amanda Brown, Sarah, and not forgetting me!!
The three of us ( we picked Amanda B up) were a BIT late (maybe about 2 minutes) and when I saw all my friends again, I suddenly feel so excited about what lies ahead of our day. It makes me feel quite reluctant to move. We caught the train 25 minutes later and arrived at nearly 1pm. We dropped by at Mum’s office to pass her souvenirs to her colleagues. I discovered that I wasn’t a very good organiser and I must have made them reallllllly hungry! (
Sorry!!!!) We were divided in the decision whether to eat our lunch first but finally chose go straight to Laser Force. I was praying really hard when I found out that it might be booked. We had to walk all the way there, which was very far away… plus, in the rain!! I really hope all of my friends will not get sick as they have to go to school tomorrow!
When we
finally arrived (it was nearly 2pm), the man told us that it was indeed fully booked. It took at least 30 seconds for me to realise that he was just fooling around. I was very glad and thanked God immediately. However, if we were to have lunch first, we had to be back in 20 minutes. So off we rushed away to buy takeaway lunch to eat, all of us going in our separate ways for our desired lunch. Kathy and I went to K.C. Café & Takeaway, Jas and Anita to Burger King, Amanda S and Polina to Subway and Amanda B and Sarah to a bakery nearby. So by 2.25pm we were all ready to be ‘lasered’. We watched a video first, of the rules and then got into teams of 4 (we had 8, so into 2 teams) Since there were 5 yr12s and 3 uni-goers, one of us had to go in their teams. That would have to be me… and looking back now- it would be the SHC-leavers and SHC year 12s. :P They were
Green team and we were
Red. Each of us had a name too –
Selene –
Titan, Anita-
Flash, Jasmine-
Nuclear, Polina-
JupiterAmanda B.-
Aries, Amanda S.-
Sub-Zero, Kathy-
Cyclone, Sarah-
Viking
It was an amazing and VERY fun experience. We had 3 missions for $15 a person. One of the rules (and most important one too!) was ‘No Running!!!’ but forgive me, when excitement takes over, I can only say, “Oops…” Overall it was a great time and I shouldn’t really bore you with all the details so I’ll skip to the end – Green Team wins (with more than 10000 points than us) hehehe… I was top in my team and Amanda B. was the best player out of all of us!
After Laser Force, it was hot and very humid (as the rain is still falling) and we continued our way, stopping by Timezone when we saw a Neoprint machine. Unfortunately it was out of order and instead of leaving… we danced. :P:P Kathy started, followed by all of us. It was the dancing machine with the arrows (the common ones available in PS2 as well) . After that, Kathy and I versus each other and of course, the expert won! But, it was truly good that we finished till the final stage. She’s really really good! But hopefully I wasn’t too far behind. I mean, I either got a D or an E! :P Haha…
Next, the rest of the gang went ‘driving in Daytona’ in the driving machines but I didn’t join them. After Kathy ended her course of driving, we continued the dancing! And failed in the second stage.
To cut the rest of the trip short, we walked around again – to Courtenay Place, then off to Morning Glory for neoprints photo. But it was disappointing that Amanda S. had to leave before we took them. After that, more walking… all the way to the railway station, in the rain!!! Sigh… it was definitely tiring. We caught the 5.45pm bus and reached home around 6.02pm. I realised that (at home) my achilles were bleeding when Ivy suddenly shrieked about my ‘covered-with-blood’ socks. Oh well… at least the joy I had with my friends are enough to even the ‘pain’.
So, reaching the end… hope I haven’t bored you. We only took a photo (with my digital cam) so… I can only entertain you with one. But more to come on Friday as I will be going to school to visit all my friends and teachers.
I would also like to mention that I received a going-away present from Sarah, which was a memory book with photos and written memories of our 3 years spent together (2003-2005) and it was really touching. I did not cry like I expected to but I suddenly felt a sense of calmness and appreciation that I have such a good friend. So here, I would like to say, “Sarah, thanks for being my best friend. I am glad that God has made our paths cross. Keep in touch!”
